2008 Hoops 4 Hunger Food and Funds Drive

Hoops 4 Hunger Food and Funds Drive!

Contratulations to WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY - the school with the overall highest total number of pounds per capita. Wake Forest will be home to the Hoops 4 Hunger trophy award for one year!

In addition to the highest pounds per capita, we also note the following:

The school donating the most actual pounds of food is NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY!

The school donating the most actual dollars is UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA CHAPEL HILL!

Together, all 7 participating schools collected 5,055 pounds of food and $6,506.00.  This is equivalent to 31,651 MEALS!

(The food and funds collected by Wake Forest will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.  The food and funds collected by all the other schools will benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.)

On behalf of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, we extend our most grateful appreciation, thanks and congratulations to everyone for their dedicated efforts, support, care and concern for our neighbors in need who suffer from hunger.  Their leadership is commendable, and brings to life the words of the inspirational Dr. Seuss:  “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.” 

We extend a BIG THANK YOU to Coach Kay Yow for leading HOOPS 4 HUNGER as our first Honorary Chairperson!!!
